Hotels
There are a few hotel choices that we recommend. These hotels have worked out room discounts with our center. When contacting these hotels mention that you are a family participating in programs at our center in order to receive a discounted room rate.
The Comfort Suites recently opened its doors in November 2007. They are located only .3 miles from our center. Their guest rooms offer a living room area with a full size sofa bed, microwave and refrigerator. Some of their amenities include free deluxe continental breakfast, an indoor heated pool and free wireless hi-speed internet.
The Residence Inn by Marriott is located about 4 miles from our center. Each room is a suite which includes a fully equipped kitchen. Some of their amenities include an indoor swimming pool, complimentary deluxe continental breakfast buffet, and a complimentary evening social hour (Monday-Thursday)
The Holiday Inn Waterbury is located 4 miles from our center. The hotel went through a complete renovation in 2008 and has an indoor waterpark.
Restaurants
There are many locations throughout Southington where you can find great meals. However Route 10 is filled with many cuisines that will satisfy every palate. Here you will find everything from family sit-downs to fast foods.
Shops
There are many shopping opportunities for you on Route 10 as well. Here you will find department and grocery stores, pharmacies, and unique gift shops. If going to the mall is what you’re looking for, you can visit the Westfield Shopping Mall in Meriden. This mall is about 7 miles from our center. Also nearby is the Brass Mill Center in Waterbury. This mall is about 8.5 miles from our center.
Entertainment
Theme Parks
Lake Compounce, New England’s Family Theme Park, 822 Lake Avenue, Bristol. Offers contemporary rides and attractions within a natural setting. Cool off at the brand-new Splash Harbor which includes water slides, pools and water play features for “kids” of all ages. New park entertainment, food and games. Ask for a discounted rate for your family member with special needs.
Southington Parks & Recreation Department
there are four major parks and two satellite parks which have a variety of facilities for sports, passive, arts & leisure recreation. Panthorn Park, located on Burritt Street, has 139.9 acres that includes a lighted softball field, tennis and basketball courts. It also has a nature trail, play-scape (which is handicap accessible), fishing pond, Little League Softball complex and Lacrosse fields. Recreation Park, located on South End Road, has 37.6 acres and Memorial Park, located on Woodruff Street, has 20.5 acres. Both parks offer the same facilities as Panthorn Park except that Recreation and Memorial Park houses the two municipal swimming pools in town and the play-scapes are not handicap accessible.
The new addition to the Parks & Recreation is Crescent Lake. This area is 256 acres in size and has a 53 acre lake used for boating (no gas-powered motors), fishing (including ice fishing), hiking trails, passive & leisure recreation.
Southington offers three great golf courses.
Southington Country Club – 18 holes, Public Course. 150 Savage Street.
Hawk’s Landing Country Club – 18 holes, Public Course. 210 Pattonwood Drive and
Pine Valley Golf Course – 18 holes, Public Course. Welch Road.
Skiing
Mount Southington Ski Resort is located at 396 Mount Vernon Road Plantsville, CT about 3 miles from our center.
Movies
Showcase Cinemas is located on 1821 Meriden/Waterbury Road right behind our center.
Southington Community YMCA is located on 29 High Street. Southington about 4 miles from our center.
